Heavy Structure General Fabrication

  • Heavy structure general fabrication involves the construction of large-scale infrastructure components, such as bridges, industrial buildings, and towers, using a variety of materials like steel, concrete, and alloys. Fabrication processes typically include cutting, bending, and assembling raw materials into precise shapes and configurations according to engineering specifications. Advanced techniques like welding, riveting, and bolting are employed to join these components together securely, ensuring structural integrity and durability.
  • Additionally, heavy structure general fabrication often requires meticulous planning and adherence to strict safety standards due to the complexity and scale of the projects involved. Engineers and fabricators collaborate closely to design and execute fabrication processes that meet regulatory requirements and withstand environmental factors such as wind, seismic activity, and corrosion. Quality control measures, including rigorous inspections and testing, are implemented throughout fabrication to ensure that the final products meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Primary Built-up Members

They consist of: Built- up “I” Shaped Primary Structural Framing

These are fabricated from high strength grade plates, cut to size and shape as per specifications and used in making Built-up sections. Any geometrical frame is possible in this system. Unsymmetrical framing system about the ridge line and multiple framing systems with unequal width are also possible, but with more engineering time and longer delivery periods. All components are designed for compatibility. These components are fabricated under strict quality control norms as per shop drawings. Functional subsystems include mezzanine floors (including joists and decking), crane runaway beams( to support crane system), roof Platforms, catwalks, etc. Aesthetic features include fascias, parapets, canopies and roof extensions. These components are transported and assembled at site as per erection drawings.

Secondary Members

Secondary members are composed of Roof Purlins, Wall Girts, Eave Struts and Roofing Sheets. Roof Purlins, Wall Girts & Struts are forms of Z-purlins, C-purlins and Hollow Sections. Z-purlins & C-purlins are Hollow Sections. Z-purlins & C-purlins are Cold Formed Steel members having a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa with zinc coating (120/180/275 gsm).

Green Buildings:

  • According to the World Green Building Council, “a Green Building is a building that in its design, construction or operation, reduces or eliminates negative impacts and create positive impact on our climate and natural environment. Green building preserves precious natural resources and improves our quality of life”.
  • Recyclability and durability are some of the green characteristics that a steel building possesses. All pre-fab structures and PEBs prefer steel as the standard material which is more than 90% recyclable. Also, steel buildings contribute to better energy efficiency, environmental friendly roofing and wall panels, natural lighting through skylights, various other building materials and structures composed of steel.
  • NAPL Group also specialises in Green Building that are designed, built, renovated, operated or reused in an ecological and resource efficient manner. Green Buildings help protect occupant health and improve employee productivity. Using energy, water and other resources more efficiently, we reduce overall impact to the environment and optimise environmental and economic performance.

Z- Purlin Roof Purlins

Roof Purlins (Cold Formed): Purlins are Z sections with 120 to 350 mm depth & thickness from 0.8 to 3.15 mm as per requirement. They are fixed to the top flanges of the rafters by means of cleats moulded to the rafter and the purlin web bolted to the cleats. Purlin ends are overlapped to act as continuous beams.

C- Purlin Wall Girts

Wall Girts (Cold Formed) Wall Girts shall be Z section with 120 to 350 mm depth & thickness from 0.8 to 3.15 mm as per requirement. There are two fixation methods:

  • These girts are fixed to the outer flange of the side wall column by cleats moulded to the side column and the girt web bolted to the cleats. Overlapping connections are provided for continuous beam.
  • End Wall Girts and Flushed Girts on side walls are flushed to the outer flange of the columns by cleats bolted to the column web and the girt web bolted to the cleats.

Wall Girts (Hot Formed)

Wall Girts (Hot Formed) Girts are hollow sections with 96 X 48 to 172 X 92 mm sizes and thickness from 3.0 to 4.8 mm as per requirement.

  • These girts are fixed to the outer flange of the side wall column by cleats moulded to the side column and the girt horizontally bottom bolted to the cleats.
  • End wall Girts and Flushed Girts on side walls are flushed to the outer flange of the columns by cleats bolted to the column web and the girts horizontally bolted to the bottom of the cleats.

Roofing Sheet

Colour Coated Galvalume Sheets: Roofing sheets made of metal are used for pre-engineered building solutions. They are 12 m+ in a single length and are self drilled through fasteners. They are applied for roof slopes as low as 1:20 and are applied as internal lines for double skin roofs and wall constructions without insulation. They can be curved to attain an aesthetic, architectural look.

Turbo Ventilators

These are velocity driven and centrifugal force generated, creating a low pressure area which draws out stale, damp and hot air through the ventilators and fresh air is automatically replaced. Turbo ventilators are wind driven, energy saving, pollution free and are virtually maintenance free.

Louvers

Louvers maintain a regular flow of fresh and natural air in the industrial and storage areas. In combination with Turbo Ventilators, they help in reducing the build-up of dust, vapour and heat inside the building.

Fascias

Fascias are provided for concealing parts of the gable roof, soffit, time gutters & downspouts. It provides colour coordination to the fascia sheeting, adding beauty to the structure and giving it an adequate facelift.

Roof Monitors

Roof Monitors are for fulfilling exact ventilation and lighting requirements. The size of the monitors can be adjusted to any specification. It is provided with proper angle to protect from rain and intrusion of birds.

Flashings and Trims

Flashings and Trims create harmony and splendour of the Pre-engineered Building Structures. These sheet metal closures are designed to protect from weather effects with neat appearances at corners and junctions.

Hollow Section

Eave Struts (Cold Formed): Eave Struts are C & Z sections with 120 to 350 mm depth and thickness from 0.8 to 3.15 mm at the rafter ends. The Struts are fixed to the top flanges of the rafters by cleats moulded to the rafters and the struts web bolted to the cleats. Strut ends are overlapped to act as continuous beams.
